Almost every kid loves playing with playdough. The texture, colors, and creative freedom can keep kids busy for hours! With spring break here and April showers, keep your little ones entertained with this easy DIY Essential Oil Playdough. This is a great way to introduce aromatherapy to your kids and help them get their creative juices flowing.

Not only is this recipe easy, it is all-natural and made with ingredients everyone has at home. In only 30 minutes you will have some happy and quiet kids!

You can use whatever essential oils you choose, but make sure to refer to our kid’s safety page to make sure the essential oil is safe for your child’s age. Essential oils we recommend are Lavender Greece, Orange, Lemon, Lime, and Red Mandarin.

DIY Essential Oil Playdough

What You Need:

  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 cup salt
  • 1 tbsp cream of tartar
  • 3 tablespoon oil
  • 3 cups cold water
  • A few drops of your choice of essential oil
  • Food coloring, optional

Directions:

  1. Combine flour, salt, cream of tartar together in a large bowl
  2. In a saucepan bring water to a boil
  3. Pour 1 cup of your boiling water to the mixture and stir, adding an additional ½ cup slowly until desired consistency is reached.
  4. Let cool, split into 12 balls, and knead in essential oils and food coloring until it is distributed evenly throughout each ball of playdough.
  5. Let your kids enjoy this natural play dough and when done, store in an airtight container.

Dry Cuticle Healing Oil

I put together this cuticle oil blend for those of us that get dry cracked cuticle’s year round. This will help soften, moisturize and heal your cuticles that are cracked and sore.

10 drops Lavender
10 drops Frankincense
10 drops Melaleuca ( Tea Tree)
5 drops Helichrysum

Fill a roller bottle, or a dropper bottle with the above oils and top with Avocado Oil. Avocado Oil works well with dry sensitive skin, and promotes cuticle health.

If you can’t use Lavender try Rosemary Essential Oil instead.

This blend of Thyme, Lemongrass and Wintergreen creates a mentally stimulating aroma for any afternoon pick-me-up! Use this blend to take some “thyme” to reboot mind and body.

Strong Diffuser Blend

Step 1

Mix 1 drop Thyme, 4 drops Lemongrass and 3 drops Wintergreen. Add to a diffuser.

Step 2

Take some thyme to enjoy life. Breathe in the stimulating aroma for an afternoon pick-me-up!

DIY Bug Repellant

This is a great bug repellant formula!  I will never go back to chemical bug repellant’s after using this blend. It smells great, feels good on the skin, and doesn’t leave a greasy residue.

Essential Oils for Anxiety

There are several types of anxiety that people can suffer from, and there are essential oils to help with each type.

Tense Anxiety usually involves bodily tension, muscle pains, aches, sore body. The essential oils that can help with tense anxiety symptoms are sandalwood, lavender, clary sage, roman chamomile, patchouli, and cinnamon.
TENSE ANXIETY BLEND
10 drops Clary Sage
15 drops Lavender
5 drops Roman Chamomile

Restless Anxiety symptoms are over activity, sweating, palpitations, dizziness, lump in throat, frequent urination or diarrhea (over activity of the autonomic nervous system)
Essential oils: vetiver, atlas cedarwood, juniper berry, roman chamomile, frankincense, mandarin
RESTLESS ANXIETY BLEND
5 drops Vetiver
10 drops Juniper Berry
15 drops Atlas Cedarwood

Apprehensive Anxiety includes unease, apprehension, worrying, brooding, over anxiousness, paranoia, and a sense of foreboding.
Essential oils: bergamot, lavender, neroli, rose, melissa, geranium, atlas cedarwood , patchouli, orange (sweet)
APPREHENSIVE ANXIETY BLEND
15 drops Bergamot
5 drops Lavender
10 drops Geranium

Repressed Anxiety symptoms include feeling on edge, irritable, difficulty in concentrating, insomnia, and feeling exhausted all the time. The essential oils that can help alleviate these symptoms are bergamot, melissa, neroli, rose, sandalwood, vetiver, and atlas cedarwood .
