Litsea Cubeba Essential Oil (May Chang)

I recently discovered Litsea Cubeba Essential Oil. This oil is also commonly known as May Chang and Mountain Pepper. Litsea Cubeba Essential Oil has a medium-strength lemony, fresh aroma presenting a top fragrance note.

The fruity Litsea Cubeba Essential Oil is part of the Rocky Mountain Oils Mood, Skin Care, and Sleep collections. Use in daily skin and hair care regimens, particularly for those with oily complexions. Litsea Cubeba’s antibacterial and antiviral properties make it effective against common infections like cold and cough. Diffuse a few drops into a vaporizer to keep any respiratory problems at bay. Litsea Cubeba is also very useful in treating infectious skin conditions such as Athletes Foot because of its pronounced antifungal action. Litsea Cubeba Essential Oil also works to support emotions through the natural grief process. The essential oil may reduce fatigue during the day and promote restful sleep in the evening. Add Litsea Cubeba Essential Oil to DIY cleaning products for a bright burst of scent.

Essential Oil Substitutes for Lavender

Lavender has become very popular and you will find it in lotions, soaps, shampoos, and even bedding! It has been called “the universal balm” by aromatherapist due to its use for anxiety, promoting peaceful sleep, and antibacterial and antifungal properties. Sometimes, Lavender is not the best choice of essential oil, you may be allergic to it, or just tired of it.

The following essential oils are great alternatives.

Neroli: It is very expensive, which is why it is usually sold diluted. It is still very effective this way. The orange blossom scent is great for all skin types. It works as a natural deodorant and can be used on dehydrated or sensitive skin. Diffuse Neroli to help calm the mind and spirit while bringing inner strength and peace.

Geranium: This is especially good for use with kids, because it seldom irritates, is light and pleasant, and very calming. It has many of the same properties as Lavender, so it is good to alternate with lavender for consistent results. The oil is gentle enough for daily skin care use. Geranium oil also offers emotional comfort.  Citrusy oils blend well with Geranium Essential Oil.

Bergamont: This is good medicine for a busy brain. It is also a light, uplifting citrus fragrance. Bergamot and Geranium smell wonderful combined. Be careful of sun exposure immediately after using it on your skin, as Bergamot is phototoxic.

Ylang Ylang: This oil, often used in perfumes, should be used sparingly as a little goes a long way. Diffuse the oil alone or in a blend to help bring harmony to your life, along with feelings of peace. The balancing oil complements meditation and also can be used in daily skin care products, including soaps and detergents.
Aromatherapy oils are not meant to be used undiluted on the skin. If you are going to use it on your body, try it in a carrier such as almond or jojoba oil, and test it before using it extensively.

How to clean your Essential Oil Diffuser

How to clean your Essential Oil Diffuser

Hard water, minerals, lime, and even heavier oils can damage or leave past odors in your essential oil diffuser. To keep your diffuser running longer, and remove past essential oil residue, it’s important to clean it on a regular basis. Here are several easy ways.

Klenzor Diffuser Cleaning Tablets

  • With one deep cleaning tablet, say goodbye to old stains, residue from essential oils and mineral buildup that can keep your diffuser from working properly. Eliminate and neutralize the aroma from lingering past essential oils. Simply fill your diffuser with water, add 1 Klenzor tablet and run for a minimum of two hours. Brush, empty, rinse and enjoy.

OR

  • Fill the water reservoir of your diffuser up to about half way with cold clean tap water, stopping well before the maximum fill line as you will only be running the diffuser for a brief amount of time.
  • Add up to 10 drops of white vinegar to the reservoir
  • Run for 5 minutes, his will be enough time for the water and vinegar to move throughout the diffuser and clean it.
  • Drain the diffuser. After turning off and unplugging the diffuser, pour out the remaining water, wipe down, then rinse and dry.
